Job summary

SLB in Louisiana seeks an experienced drilling fluids engineer to design and optimize mud programs. You will monitor rheology, density, filtration, and ECD to align with well objectives, while interpreting lab results for field treatments.

You will coordinate with rig and office teams, ensure safe handling of mud products, and drive improvements through post-well reviews and KPI tracking.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent field experience in drilling fluids/mud engineering.
• 3+ years of drilling fluids/mud engineering experience (land or offshore).
• Working knowledge of drilling hydraulics, ECD management, solids control, and wellbore stability fundamentals.
• Ability to interpret lab results and translate them into actionable field treatments.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain drilling fluid programs tailored to well objectives and constraints.
• Monitor and control fluid properties to stay within program limits.
• Conduct and interpret lab tests; ensure samples, methods, and reporting meet quality standards.
• Troubleshoot mud-related drilling issues and provide clear recommendations.
• Coordinate chemical/additive usage and optimize consumption while sustaining performance and cost.
• Interface with rig and office stakeholders to align execution and manage changes.
• Maintain accurate documentation including daily mud reports, inventories, and deviations.
• Support HSE compliance for safe handling, storage, transport, and disposal of mud products and waste.
• Drive continuous improvement through post-well reviews, KPI tracking, and problem-solving.
