Job summary

Boart Longyear is seeking a Pump Driller Assistant in Salt Lake City, UT. Earn while you learn with a 14–20 day on/off cycle, generous overtime, and paid MSHA to First Aid training. You’ll support drilling crews with hauling, mixing fluids, and handling drill string components.

You will travel to sites across Nevada, Utah, and beyond, work 12+ hour shifts, and gain hands‑on experience while progressing toward field supervision. PPE and boot allowances are provided as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Willing to travel by plane or car to worksites across multiple states.
• Able to commute long distances (300+ miles) for shifts.
• Willing to work in remote locations and all weather elements.
• Willing to work extended periods (14–20 days) with 12+ hour shifts.
• Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License and U.S. Work Authorization.
• Background and drug screening, plus a Physical Functional Fitness Evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Provide semi-skilled labor to drilling crews including operation of vehicles and equipment.
• Hauling supplies and performing manual material handling.
• Mixing drilling fluids and adding/removing rods to/from drill string.
• Collecting samples with proper labeling and organization.
• Assisting in rigging, moving to new locations, and equipment maintenance.
• Conducting site, mast, and pre-shift inspections; inductions for visitors.
• Maintain parts inventory and ensure optimal life of site equipment and tooling.
• Train new drillers when required.
