Position Summary

STG Inc. is hiring a Seasonal (Fixed Term) Driller to perform specialized rock drilling activities onsite in rural Alaska for infrastructure projects. Pay range: $50 - $60 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain drilling equipment to bore holes for foundation work, anchoring, grouting, and blast preparation.
  • Co‑ordinate drilling activities with field leadership and other trades to ensure efficiency and compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Adjust air pressure, rotary speed, and downward pressure to meet material conditions and desired hole depth.
  • Flush cuttings from holes and control dust; perform routine maintenance and minor repairs including lubrication and parts replacement.
  • Assist other trades as needed and contribute to overall project demands.
  • Maintain consistent and punctual attendance; adhere to company policies while on the job or representing STG.
  • Promptly report incidents, unsafe conditions, or activities that may impact safety or company operations.
  • Act as a team member and mentor less experienced laborers when appropriate.
  • Complete and submit required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Share responsibility for cooking, cleaning, and general upkeep of field quarters when required.
  • Maintain required certifications and licenses mandated by law or company policy.
  • Perform physical labor involving climbing, lifting, stooping, and handling materials on construction sites.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities; remain alert and work in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of drilling or related construction experience.
  • Ability to pass drug, driver’s‑license (if applicable), and background screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting drilling operations in rural or Arctic environments.
  • Prior experience in Alaska’s rural construction industry.
  • Valid state driver’s license; qualified to operate a vehicle under the company’s Driving Policy.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
Working Environment

The work is primarily performed at outdoor construction sites in rural Alaska. Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, vibration, dust, and heavy equipment is common. The role may require overtime for immediate field support or bid processing, and requires adaptability to schedule or design changes.
