Job summary

US Army Corps of Engineers seeks a skilled supervisor to support the Captain by reviewing dredge plans and orders, planning crew travel and changes, and contributing to the dredge operating budget. You will plan, assign work, and advise on personnel actions including training, performance, and staffing vacancies.

Qualifications

  • One year of specialized experience monitoring and/or supporting dredge and/or facility operations day to day.
  • Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.
  • Combination of Education and Experience to reach 100% qualification requirements.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • This position meets the criteria for random drug and alcohol testing under the Department of Army Drug-Free Workplace Program as supplemented by USACE ER 690-1-1218.

  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 7412, Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Safety-Sensitive Under the DOT, Federal Highway Administration Rules on Drug and Alcohol Testing.

  • Must possess a valid State motor vehicle operator's license for the class of vehicle being operated based on site specific, job related requirements, and must maintain this license.

Minimum Qualifications For The NH-02

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring and/or supporting a dredge and/or facility operations day to day activities; assisting in the development of a safety program; and providing contract administration support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-01/GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

  • This is a pay banded position. The NH-02 band encompasses grades GS-05 and GS-11 under the General Schedule (GS) system.
