Job summary

U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command is seeking an engineering professional to develop repair and modification plans for electronic systems and to improve equipment readiness through production repair plans.

Duties

• Supports senior engineers to improve Allied Partner’s equipment readiness by preparing production repair plans that meet the scope of work.
• Train individuals and groups in the practical knowledge of a wide range of technical engineering methods, principles, requirements, work techniques, and practices associated with depot maintenance and field operation.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, for a Tier 3 SECRET Clearance as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires a pre‑employment Physical Examination to ensure you possess the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position in accordance with the Foreign Clearance Guide.
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Passport and/or Official Passport and/or Diplomatic Passport with no travel restrictions.
• This position is subject to a mobility or rotation agreement as a condition of employment. You will be required to relocate based on management needs for the duration of employment in this or successor positions.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
• When deployed, in accordance with AR 690‑11, this position has been designated as “Emergency‑Essential”. Emergency‑Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
• This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to possess and maintain a government credit card.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license per Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) country of assignment.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:

• Applying electronics or industrial engineering principles to assist in developing repair or modification plans for electronic systems and assemblies
• Reviewing technical documentation, including schematics and specification criteria to support maintenance or sustainment operations
• Assisting in project planning and execution such as coordinating resources or recommending alternative parts or materials for unavailable components
• Conducting technical instruction, training or on‑the‑job mentoring to individuals or groups on repair procedures, quality standards or depot/field level maintenance practices

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS‑09).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS‑09).
