Job summary

Union College is seeking DREAM Mentors to support no-cost mentoring for Schenectady-area youth through the DREAM program. Mentors are student volunteers who dedicate about 5 hours per week during the academic year, with a weekly planning meeting and on-campus or nearby mentoring sessions.

Responsibilities include building lasting relationships with youth, participating in Village Mentoring activities, and joining occasional events.

Qualifications

• Must be a Union College student eligible for work-study.
• Must be available to work Fridays from 3:30 to 6:30pm.
• Must be attentive to detail and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must enjoy consistently working with youth.
• General proficiency in Google Workspace is required.

Responsibilities

• Mentor youth as part of DREAM Mentors, building a trusted relationship.
• Contribute to marketing and outreach through no-cost mentoring and enrichment activities.
• Commit to ~5 hours per week during the academic year, with ~1 hour weekly mentor planning meeting.
• Participate in on-campus mentoring sessions or nearby community programs (~3 hours on weekdays).
• Join occasional trips, retreats, and celebrations as schedules allow.
