Southwest Tennessee Community College seeks a Student Worker for the DREAM program (Grant-Funded) in Advising and Academic Support. The DREAM Peer Coaching Model helps students adapt to college life and achieve personal and educational goals through guidance, mentoring, and resources.

The role involves information dissemination about campus resources, encouraging persistence, and maintaining confidentiality while supporting peers through regular communication and scheduled training.

Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled Southwest Tennessee Community College student
• Completed 12 semester hours or more
• GPA 3.0 or higher
• Available to work 20 hours per week
• Attend Peer Coach Training Session

Responsibilities

• Provides information concerning campus resources, activities, and services.
• Provides encouragement for peers to stay in college and finish their program through out-of-classroom engagement with touchpoints.
• Guides and encourages mentees toward academic success.
• Role models appropriate social behavior and skills.
• Punctual, informative, and reliable in the execution of duties.
• Be courteous and cooperative with peers and staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of peer's personal information.
• Maintain weekly communication with assigned peers and offer on-call support 1–2 hours per week and small group support at critical advising milestones.
