Description of Major Job Duties

The Drains Maintenance Worker 1, under general supervision, performs maintenance and repair functions to keep Wayne County drains and wastewater facilities in good condition. Responsibilities include vegetation removal from pipes, operating various machinery, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing and aligning new equipment, and repairing structures.

Required Tasks

• Inspect and maintain open and closed County Drains, including clearing debris from culverts.
• Inspect and maintain County sanitary interceptor sewers, removing rags and debris from siphons and regulators.
• Prepare inspection and work progress reports.
• Perform custodial duties to maintain drains, grounds, and equipment.
• Assist in installing flow meters.
• Order parts, supplies, or equipment as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Must obtain a CDL Class A with an N Endorsement within the first year of employment.

Salary: $44,690 - $57,203 per year.
