Parsons in Centreville, VA is hiring a Drainage Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You'll work with our transportation team on regional projects, developing construction documents and drainage designs.

You must be enrolled in Civil Engineering, maintain GPA 3.0, and possess strong communication and teamwork skills; experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus. Parsons offers robust benefits and a collaborative environment.

• Provide input and guidance to CAD Designers, Designers, and other Engineers.
• Take on other responsibilities related to the internship as needed.

Job Description

Parsons is now hiring for a Drainage Engineering Intern to join our Centreville, VA team starting either this summer 2027.

In this role you will have opportunity to work directly with our world-class transportation team on major regional, large scale engineering projects and gain invaluable experience in transportation infrastructure!

What You'll Be Doing

• Complete assignments for development of construction documents including drawings, specifications and estimates.
• Assist with development of drainage design (including stormwater management) to support new roadway, railroad, and other transportation related projects.
• May perform material quantity takeoffs, estimates and surveys.
• Use design software and CAE/CAD applications to implement project designs
• Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and other Engineers working on the same project.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Qualifications You'll Bring

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in civil engineering, or related field
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills
• Eager to learn, self-motivated, and flexible
• Excellent organizational and management skills
• Working knowledge of CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Microstation is a plus
