Job summary

Fort Pierce Utilities Authority seeks a Drafting Technician Trainee to support water and wastewater utility projects. You will prepare engineering drawings in AutoCAD, develop GIS mapping products, and assist engineers with project design, permits, and specifications.

The role requires high school graduation and coursework in engineering, plus AutoCAD and GIS experience. Occasional field work and after-hours call-outs may be required. This is a full-time position at the Fort Pierce facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AA/AS in Engineering or equivalent coursework preferred.
• Advanced AutoCAD drafting skills required for utility drawings.

Responsibilities

• Draft and review drawings using AutoCAD and GIS data.
• Prepare routine GIS mapping products for department use.
• Assist engineers in project design, permits, and specifications.
• Conduct field tasks for inventory, measurements, and data collection.
• Maintain drawings, topographic maps, and easement sketches as needed.
• Respond to call-out work during emergencies when required.
