Job summary

Cleco Corporate Holdings LLC is seeking a Drafter II to perform mechanical and computer aided drafting (CADD) including preliminary layout, calculations, and research. The role focuses on clear, routine tasks and supports departmental projects within the utility sector.

The Drafter II will produce detailed drawings for substations and transmission lines, interpret electrical schematics, maintain engineering documents, and assist engineers on-site as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus vocational training.
• 3-5+ years of related experience.
• Previous experience in mechanical and CADD.
• Strong business acumen pertaining to the Utility industry.
• Strong knowledge of leading practices in drafting.
• Strong planning and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Produces accurate detailed drawings for substations and transmission lines including civil, electrical, structural and plan and profile documents.
• Accurately research information required to produce design drawings, including interpreting electrical schematic drawings and vendor drawings.
• Maintain engineering support documents such as maps and schematics.
• Files and maintains all engineering documents to ensure current versions are accessible.
• Operates plotting and copying equipment to keep projects on schedule; assist in maintaining equipment.
• Accompanies engineers to job sites to collect complete and accurate data.
