Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Industrial Automation CAD Drafter to support design and development of automation and control systems. This role will partner closely with Controls Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Panel Shop personnel, and Field Installation teams to create detailed design packages for industrial automation projects.

The ideal candidate has experience with electrical schematics, control panel layouts, industrial automation systems, and documentation packages used throughout

Qualifications

• 2+ years of CAD drafting experience in electrical, industrial, manufacturing, controls, or automation environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience creating panel layouts and control system drawings.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD platforms.
• Ability to interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings.
• Knowledge of industrial control systems and field installations.
• Strong attention to detail and document control practices.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain electrical control schematics, wiring diagrams, terminal layouts, and panel designs.
• Develop detailed control panel fabrication drawings for UL508A-compliant systems.
• Produce installation drawings and construction packages for industrial automation projects.
• Support PLC, HMI, SCADA, and control system documentation efforts.
• Coordinate with controls engineers, mechanical teams, shop technicians, and field installation crews.
• Update redlines, as-built drawings, and engineering documentation throughout project lifecycles.
• Assist with BOM development and equipment documentation.
• Ensure drawings meet applicable customer, industry, and safety standards.
• Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced industrial environment.
