Job summary

Intuit Inc. is seeking a skilled Controls Panel Builder with hands-on experience in industrial automation. The role focuses on constructing electrical control panels, producing accurate drawings, and adhering to codes and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will understand industrial safety requirements and have exposure to robotics systems, with strong CAD skills and field troubleshooting capability.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Build and wire industrial control panels based on schematics and layouts.
• Mount components such as PLCs, HMIs, relays, VFDs, and terminal blocks.
• Interpret drawings and follow panel layouts and wiring diagrams.
• Create/mod electrical drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• Ensure panels meet industry codes and safety standards.
• Apply safety circuits and proper interlocks for risk reduction.
• Perform wiring, labeling, and verification of builds.
• Conduct quality checks, testing, and troubleshooting of panels.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams for accuracy.
• Support integration and wiring of robotic systems and automation gear.
• Maintain documentation for builds, revisions, and compliance records.
• Assist installation, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.

Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Controls Panel Builder with strong experience in industrial automation. This role requires hands‑on expertise in building electrical control panels, creating accurate electrical drawings, and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and safety standards. The ideal candidate will also have a solid understanding of industrial safety requirements and exposure to robotics systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and wire industrial control panels based on electrical schematics and layout drawings
• Mount components such as PLCs, HMIs, relays, VFDs, power supplies, and terminal blocks
• Interpret and follow electrical drawings, including schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams
• Create and modify electrical drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar)
• Ensure all panels meet industry standards and electrical codes (UL, NEC, NFPA, etc.)
• Apply and follow machine safety standards, including proper implementation of safety circuits (e-stops, safety relays, interlocks, etc.)
• Perform point-to-point wiring, labeling, and verification of panel builds
• Conduct quality checks, testing, and troubleshooting of completed panels
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to ensure design accuracy and functionality
• Support integration and wiring of robotic systems and automation equipment
• Maintain organized documentation for builds, revisions, and compliance records
• Support installation, commissioning, and field troubleshooting as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Proven experience building industrial control panels in an automation environment
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics and panel layout drawings
• Experience creating electrical drawings and documentation
• Knowledge of relevant electrical codes and standards (UL508A, NEC, NFPA 79, etc.)
• Understanding of industrial safety requirements and safe design practices
• Familiarity with safety components such as safety relays, light curtains, and interlock systems
• Exposure to or experience working with industrial robotics systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and specifications
• Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) preferred
• Hands-on experience integrating or supporting robotic systems is a plus (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots) preferred
• UL508A panel shop experience or certification preferred
• Electrical degree, certification, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
