Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking an Electrical Designer/Drafter / Instrumentation Technician to support controls engineers in creating and revising complete electrical drawing sets. The role emphasizes AutoCAD Electrical design (85%), with testing and troubleshooting (15%), and close coordination with project teams.

The candidate should have 2+ years in electrical design, a degree in a related field, and proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical 2017 or newer. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• AS or BS degree in Electrical Drafting, Mechatronics/Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 2–20 years of electrical engineering or electrical design experience in process equipment.
• 2 years of Control Panel Design experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical 2017 or newer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical wiring diagrams, instrument loop wiring diagrams, and equipment location diagrams.
• Design electrical systems and panel construction within project budgets and customer specs.
• Coordinate with Project Managers/Engineers to ensure accurate, timely work.
• Revise drawings based on change orders or customer requests.
• Inspectfabrication and FAT of electrical systems; assist with installation/testing as needed.
• Maintain AutoCAD Electrical library and document control timeliness.

Job description

Electrical Designer/Drafter / Instrumentation Technician

Basic Function:

WillcoordinatewithandassistControlsEngineerswithsystemandcomponentdrawings.This will include planning, creating, revising and checking of complete Electrical drawing sets for projects with minimal supervision utilizing good CAD standards.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepareelectricalwiringdiagrams,instrumentloopwiringdiagrams,electricalequipment location diagrams, process instrumentation diagrams, panel construction that will meet the Customer’s needs and be at or under the project budget

2. 85% electrical design using AutoCAD Electrical, 15% testing / technician troubleshooting

3. Revisedrawingsbasedon changeordersorcustomer requests.

4. Must closely coordinate with Project Managers/Engineers to project details to ensure accurate and timely work.

5. Mustbeabletomakeoralandgraphicpresentationsofprojectworkatmeetings,orto customers on demand as needed.

6. KeeptheAutoCADElectricallibraryuptodate

7. Mustkeepaccurateand timelytimelogsof projectandnon-project activities

8. Review electrical documentation provided by the electrical and mechanical equipment vendorsfor compliancewiththecontractrequirementsandspecifications.Provideclarity to others.

9. Inspectthefabricationofelectricalsystems,FATcertify.Ifnecessaryinspectthe installation, modification, testing and full operation of system.

10. Providetechnicalassistanceandresolutionwhenelectricalorengineeringproblemsare encountered before, during, and after construction.

11. AssistwithquotingpotentialprojectsbyprovidingP&IDforthecontrolsrequired.

12. ReviewCustomerspecs(solenoids,electricalspecs)priortocreatingasystemfora project.

13. Requestwiringtaglistfromcustomersoproperlabelingcanoccuronequipmentand project documents.

14. Identifyopportunitiesforprocessimprovementandconstructivelymakesuggestionsforthatimprovement.

15. Valueyourpersonaldevelopmentandremainontheforefrontofemergingtechnologyin fields relating to this position.

Education,PriorWorkExperience, Specialized Skill or Knowledge:

• AS or BSDegree in Electrical Drafting, Mechatronics/Automation, Electrical Engineering, or related degree
