All About the Assistant General Manager Role

As the Assistant General Manager at Draft, you’ll work alongside the General Manager to lead daily operations at one of Belmont Park’s signature beachfront restaurants. From coaching the team and keeping service running smoothly to managing costs, supporting the bar and culinary teams, and connecting with Guests, you’ll have a direct impact on the restaurant’s culture, performance, and overall success.

Your Role at Belmont Park

You’ll be a visible, hands‑on leader who knows when to jump into the action and when to step back and coach the team. You’ll help set the tone for Draft by supporting our Supervisors, Leads, and team members while partnering with Food & Beverage leadership, culinary, and beverage teams to deliver great food, great service, and an experience that keeps Guests coming back.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead the Team & Daily Operations

• Partner with the General Manager to oversee day‑to‑day restaurant operations
• Lead, coach, and support Supervisors, Leads, and front‑line team members
• Keep shifts organized and service moving during high‑volume periods
• Support opening, closing, staffing, inventory, and overall restaurant readiness
• Work closely with culinary and beverage leadership to keep front‑and‑back‑of‑house operations connected

Create an Exceptional Guest Experience

• Stay present on the floor and actively engage with Guests throughout service
• Set the standard for friendly, attentive, and efficient service
• Step in when challenges arise and turn Guest concerns into positive experiences
• Coach the team on delivering consistent service that reflects the Draft experience
• Help manage labor, food and beverage costs, inventory, sales, and overall restaurant performance
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service, and profitability
• Support beverage programming, promotions, and initiatives that keep Draft fresh and competitive
• Partner with leadership on ideas that increase visibility, traffic, and Guest engagement

Keep Standards High

• Maintain high standards for restaurant cleanliness, organization, food quality, and presentation
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, responsible beverage service, and workplace safety expectations are consistently followed
• Support team training and reinforce operational standards

What You Bring

• Minimum 2–3 years of restaurant management or supervisory experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and team‑management skills
• Experience in a high‑volume, full‑service restaurant environment preferred
• Working knowledge of labor management, inventory, food and beverage costs, and restaurant financial performance
• Proficiency with restaurant POS and management systems
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and responsible beverage service requirements
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work approximately 50–55 hours per week

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Able to work 50-55 hours per week.
• Able to stand/walk up to eight hours at a time.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times. Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, stooping and shoving, and bending.
• Able to work outdoors may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions such as rain, cold temperatures, direct sunlight, high heat, and humidity.
• Able to work in a noisy environment.
• Ability to climb stairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in restaurant management or supervisory roles
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities
• Proficiency in restaurant management software and POS systems
• Ability to handle high‑pressure situations and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations

Expected Hours of Work: Flexible work hours, including but not exclusive to busiest times, weekends, holidays, and nights

Testing/Work Authorization

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Pre‑Employment Drug Test and Background Check Required.
