Job summary

HRCP (Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV) in Norfolk, VA, is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to support the I-64 Design-Build project. You will operate multiple machines, move material, and help maintain safety on a major civil construction site.

Requirements include at least 3 years of experience with bulldozers, excavators, rollers, and front-end loaders, plus the ability to work outdoors in all weather. A high school diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum of 3 years experience running equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, rollers, and front-end loaders.
• Strongly prefer candidates with High School Diploma.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work outdoors in all weather.
• Must be able to perform physical activities involving arms, legs, and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Operate one or several types of heavy construction equipment to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete.
• Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers to operate such machines.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials using trucks, tractors, or related equipment.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities and follow safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) consisting of Dragados, VINCI, and Flatiron has been selected to construct the $4.3bn Design Build project –the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).The project scope across a 9 mile section of the I-64 will include: a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing that will accommodate a total of 8 lanes of capacity across the water, replacement of the existing marine approach bridges and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The twin 45’ diameter 1.5-mile tunnels will be bored by TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening for a TBM in North America. The project is expected to continue to the end of 2027.Job DescriptionOperate one or several types of Heavy construction equipment, such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete or other hard surface pavement.
