Job summary

The City of Valdosta seeks a proactive Program Coordinator to lead the Main Street Program and the Central Valdosta Development Authority (CVDA) initiatives in downtown Valdosta. You will develop public awareness campaigns, implement work plans, manage records and budgets, and serve as a liaison to downtown stakeholders, businesses, schools and nonprofit groups.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Main Street Program policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of marketing and public relations principles and practices.
• Knowledge of event planning principles.
• Knowledge of budget management principles.

• Skill in cultivating professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
• Skill in problem solving.
• Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.
• Skill in researching and preparing related reports.
• Skill in interpersonal relations.
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in marketing, social media, event coordination or accounting.
• Experience typical of apprenticeship/internship or 1–2 years in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate assigned operations of the Main Street Program and CVDA.
• Assist in developing and conducting public awareness programs.
• Assist in implementing work plans and managing budgets.
• Serve as a liaison with downtown building and business owners and with local/state agencies.
• Coordinate activities of Main Street and CVDA committees and track program progress.
• Recruit volunteers and manage event logistics including vendors and entertainment.
• Maintain program records, inventory of downtown businesses, and spaces.
• Manage the Main Street webpage and social media platforms.
• Prepare meeting materials and minutes for CVDA meetings.
