Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Chemical Technician (Downstream Chemicals) in Detroit, MI. You will manage refinery process operations, fuels, and water treatment programs to ensure safety and value for customers.

Responsibilities include inventories, sampling, lab testing, and system maintenance, with collaboration on innovative solutions and field applications. Local commuting required; lifting 50 lbs may be necessary.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Minimum 1 year of refinery, petrochemical or industrial experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, math, and troubleshooting skills.
• Laboratory experience and familiarity with analytical methods preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and drive a company vehicle as needed; TWIC card required or able to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Safely manage day‑to‑day refinery process, finished fuels, and water treatment programs.
• Manage chemical inventories, deliveries, field sampling, laboratory testing, injection system maintenance and reporting.
• Support development and installation of new systems and designs to apply our chemical products and technologies.
• Collaborate with team members to drive technical sales and innovative solutions for customers.
• Coordinate multiple projects to support the application of our chemicals in the field.
