Job summary

Plains VC is seeking a Biotech Process Development Scientist I to join our team in Oklahoma City. The role focuses on downstream bioprocess development, optimization, and scale-up for biologics and therapeutic products.

You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and regulatory preparedness. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s in a related field with 4–6 years of bioprocess development experience, hands-on purification and viral clearance expertise, and familiarity

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 4–6 years of experience in bioprocess development in biotech/pharma.
• Hands-on purification, viral clearance, and process characterization experience.
• Experience scaling to pilot scale and enabling tech transfer to manufacturing.
• Familiarity with PAT, downstream purification equipment, and chromatography techniques.
• Strong knowledge of GMP/GLP, FDA, and ICH guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, optimize, and execute experiments for downstream bioprocesses.
• Lead scale-up from lab to pilot scale and support technology transfer to manufacturing.
• Manage viral clearance studies and optimize yield, purity, and product quality.
• Troubleshoot complex technical challenges by data analysis and root cause investigation.
• Collaborate with Upstream, Analytical, QA, MSAT, and Manufacturing groups.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation and support regulatory filings.
• Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP and applicable FDA guidelines.
• Mentor junior team members and share knowledge across teams.
• Plan experiments to meet milestones and communicate progress to stakeholders.
