Job summary

Halliburton's Sperry Drilling is seeking an entry-level R&M Electrical Technician I in Houston, TX to perform repairs, calibration, and inspections on downhole tool electronics used in MWD/LWD and RSS systems.

Under supervision, you will troubleshoot electrical systems, document service records, and support senior technicians while contributing to tool reliability and safe operations. This role offers growth into higher levels as competencies grow.

Qualifications

Technical school certificate in electronics, electrical technology, instrumentation, or related field OR equivalent experience.
Associate degree or higher preferred.
Mechanical and/or electronics aptitude, including ability to work with small components and precision tools.
Basic computer proficiency (diagnostic software, data entry, equipment interfaces).
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and work instructions.
Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

Repair, testing, calibration, and preventative maintenance on downhole tool electronics and drilling systems.
Assemble/disassemble MWD/LWD, RSS, and directional drilling tools per specifications.
Perform electronic troubleshooting, diagnostics, and component replacement under supervision.
Follow HSE, quality, and reliability procedures to ensure safe practices.
Maintain service records, calibration logs, and repair documentation.
Support senior technicians and engineers in tool evaluations and improvement initiatives.
Operate testing systems and diagnostic software.
Contribute to shop efficiency and asset readiness for field deployment.
