Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires Class B Driver License and completion of a 2-year automotive or diesel/industrial equipment technology program; 2 years of related work experience.
• Mechanic II requires Class A permit by start date and completion of a 2-year automotive or diesel/industrial technology program.
• Mechanic I requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Class A permit by first day.

Responsibilities

• Automobile repair: troubleshoot and repair cars and pickups; diagnose using computerized systems; service brakes, engines, transmissions, electrical, HVAC, and safety features.
• Radio installation: install 2-way radios, wire, and wiring schematics for electrical accessories and safety equipment.
• Light and heavy truck repair: service brakes, hydraulics, clutches, drivetrains, electrical and diesel engines; transmission work; diagnostic checks.
