Job summary

Xpress Global Systems (XGS) is seeking a Manager of Safety responsible for implementing and managing safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations. The role involves conducting safety audits, training employees, and engaging the workforce in safety initiatives. Candidates should have a high school diploma or bachelor's degree, along with four years of relevant experience in safety training and a strong command of Microsoft Excel. Ability to travel 50% of the time is also required.

Job description

The XGS Manager of Safety has the primary responsibility for the implementation, management, and monitoring of safety programs and policies to ensure compliance in company policy and procedures that meet OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and other applicable requirements within its designated region. They will ensure that all employees are aware of safety requirements and prepared to follow procedures through education and training.

What you'll be doing at XGS...
  • Travel up to 50%
  • Audit safety data to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and company requirements
  • Compile historical data for auditing and performance purposes to ensure compliance with company policy as well as regulatory requirements
  • Analyze data to identify trends, causation, and reduction of Workplace Injuries and Accidents
  • Conduct inspections to identify unsafe work conditions and implement safeguards and solutions
  • Collect data, statements, pictures, and reports on safety accidents and events
  • Conduct root cause root analysis on all incidents
  • Conduct company-wide safety training and education on processes, procedures, policies, and Federal and State regulations as they relate to the safety of employees, the public, and equipment
  • Track and keep up to date all safety data tracking spreadsheets
  • Engage the workforce in safety awareness and participation by leading educational programs and safety initiatives that will incorporate best practices at every step of our processes
  • Provides guidance to employees, supervisors, and managers for operating equipment within safety guidelines. This includes the proper and timely use and editing of ELD
  • Oversee proper coordination and implementation of company Safety Award program
  • Responsible for coordinating Safety Certifications and issuing certifications in a timely manner
  • Ability to work at field locations performing essential functions

  • Have manual dexterity to operate a computer and other office machines

  • Consistently maintain excellent personal attendance records
  • Frequently lift objects weighing up to 55 pounds
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Have correctable vision and hearing
  • Sit for long periods of time
We are looking for candidates with...
  • High School diploma and at least 4 years of relevant transportation, warehousing, or distribution experience OR bachelor's degree or equivalent; technical expertise is highly desirable or comparable relevant experience
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time Region wide
  • Four (4) years of Safety training/teaching/facilitating experience
  • Must have technical expertise with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
  • Knowledge of DOT/HOS regulations
  • Ability to speak in front of groups
  • Accident investigations and mitigation
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office products, primarily Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Discretion, good judgment, organizational or management ability, initiative, and the ability to work independently
  • Class A CDL (Preferred)
  • Teaching/Training/Facilitation in person/virtual: 3 year (Preferred)
  • DOT Hours of service: 3 year (Preferred)
  • DOT regulations: 3 year (Preferred)
  • ELD such as Samsara: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Dashcams: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Office: 3 year (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Excel: 3 year (Preferred)
  • Pivot Tables and lookups: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Accident investigation: 3 year (Preferred)
