GTS Transportation Inc. seeks a Safety Specialist to lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety programs ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.

The role emphasizes reducing accidents, promoting safety culture, and ensuring adherence to transportation safety standards. Responsibilities include audits, reviews of driver logs and HOS, incident investigations, and delivering driver and staff training.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA and other safety regulations.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections and risk assessments of drivers, vehicles and facilities.
• Review driver logs (ELDs), hours of service (HOS), and safety records for compliance.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses; prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for drivers and staff (e.g., defensive driving, compliance).
• Maintain safety documentation, records and reports for regulatory audits.
• Track and analyze safety metrics (accident frequency, violations, CSA scores).
• Collaborate with operations and dispatch to ensure safe scheduling and routing.
• Conduct new driver safety orientations and ongoing coaching.
• Recommend and implement improvements to safety policies and procedures.
