Job summary

Aerotek in Omaha, NE is seeking a Door Technician to install commercial doors, frames, and glass, and to service automatic and manual door systems at customer sites. This full-time contract-to-hire role combines hands-on construction, electrical, and carpentry work with field service responsibilities.

Job Title: Door Technician
Job Description

Technicians will install commercial doors, frames, and glass and performs service and maintenance on automatic sliding and swing doors as well as manual doors. This role combines hands‑on construction, electrical, and carpentry work with field service responsibilities, ensuring high-quality installation, repair, and operation of door systems at customer sites.

Responsibilities
  • Install commercial doors, frames, and glass in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.

  • Perform service, troubleshooting, and repairs on automatic sliding doors, automatic swing doors, and manual door systems.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to plan and execute installations and service work accurately.

  • Use power tools, hand tools, and related equipment safely and effectively for construction, electrical, and carpentry tasks.

  • Inspect door systems to identify mechanical, electrical, or structural issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.

  • Coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and to quality standards.

Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated experience installing and servicing commercial doors, frames, and glass.

  • Hands‑on skills in construction, carpentry, and electrical work.

  • Proficiency using power tools and hand tools in a safe and controlled manner.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

  • Mechanical aptitude for diagnosing and repairing door systems, including automatic sliding and swing doors.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail in installation and service work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with electrical, HVAC, or other mechanical trades is preferred.

  • Experience in general construction environments is beneficial.

  • Comfort working with mobile technology, including smartphones and tablets, for documentation and communication.

  • Willingness to travel locally during business hours using a company‑provided work van.

  • Interest in growing into leadership responsibilities, as performance and leadership are recognized and rewarded.

Work Environment

This is a full‑time role with standard hours from 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The position includes an on‑call rotation every 10 weeks for one week, which may involve evening and weekend work. Work is primarily performed in the field at customer locations, using a company‑provided work van during business hours, with travel expenses covered. The environment involves regular use of power tools, hand tools, and mobile devices such as phones and tablets. Company shirts and coats are provided at no charge to support a consistent and practical dress code suitable for construction and service work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
