Job summary

Cook & Boardman, LLC is seeking a Detailer to serve as the technical backbone on projects, translating contract documents into accurate door, frame, and hardware schedules that meet UL, fire code, ADA, and life-safety requirements.

You will prepare shop drawings and schedules, ensure code-compliant selections, and maintain organized project files while coordinating with architects, GC teams, and product suppliers.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering, architecture, or construction-related field preferred; hands-on experience considered.
• 2–4 years of detailing, estimating, project coordination, or specification work in commercial construction or building materials.
• Knowledge of door, frame, and hardware types and how components interact in an opening assembly.
• Familiarity with UL listings, fire/smoke ratings, ADA, life safety, and commercial building codes.
• Proficiency in detailing software and MS Office; CAD experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review documents to establish accurate opening quantities and product requirements for each project.
• Detail and schedule door, frame, and hardware materials; verify costs against estimates.
• Determine product selections based on code standards, scope, and targets.
• Ensure all products meet code requirements and UL listings; prepare submittals.
• Prepare shop drawings, schedules, elevations using CAD or detailing software.
• Maintain organized project files throughout the lifecycle.
