Job summary

The Blood Bank of Alaska is seeking a Donor Services Technician to join the Collections team in Anchorage. This full-time role involves donor screening, phlebotomy at mobile drives or at the facility, and maintaining a safe, professional donation environment.

No experience is required and on-the-job training is provided. The successful candidate will work closely with the Collections Manager, following SOPs and confidentiality standards while enabling a positive donor experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification program in phlebotomy or related field preferred but not required.
• No prior experience required; willingness to train on the job.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Register potential blood donors using BECS.
• Review donor history and medical suitability with RN/Medical Director as needed.
• Take vital signs and perform finger stick for hematocrit.
• Conduct donor interviews and explain DHF/IHS procedures.
• Ensure donor understands pre/post donation instructions.
• Perform daily/monthly quality control per SOPs.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area and restock supplies.
• Be a professional ambassador for the Blood Bank of Alaska.
