Responsibilities include gift imports, donor communications, and supporting the Donor Service Supervisor. Requirements include 2+ years in data entry, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and experience with Salesforce/CRM systems.

  • Answer donor calls promptly with personalized responses; return missed calls and manage voicemails during absences.
  • Ensure honor and memorial gift notifications are mailed weekly; submit weekly Welcome Packets to the gift processing vendor; assist with receipting and inventory of supplies.

Job description

The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative communities with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish.

As a vital part of the Development Team, the Donor Services Coordinator provides support in processing donor gifts and responding to donor needs. The coordinator is responsible for accurate and timely gift processing and receipting while delivering professional service internally and externally.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Imports gifts from multiple sources and updates donors’ biographical data during the gift import process; reconciles any gift discrepancies with the gift processing vendor; and generates and posts daily closing reports.
  • Answer donor calls promptly, providing a personalized response to their inquiries; Return missed calls in a timely manner and ensure appropriate call forwarding or voicemail setup during absences.
  • Ensure that requested honor and memorial gift notifications are mailed weekly; Create and submit weekly Welcome Packets to the gift processing vendor; And assist with receipting and managing the inventory of supplies, such as receipt paper, envelope, etc.
  • Support the Donor Service Supervisor in quality assurance; Assist with special projects as instructed by the Donor Services Supervisor or Database Manager; And ensure the Donor Service Operating Manual is up to date.
  • Update donor data related to undeliverable address, change of address, deceased, Direct Mail preferences, etc.

Requirements:

  • Embrace the organization’s Statement of Faith.
  • 2+ years’ experience in data entry and experience working in a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work and education.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel or other data related tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience in gift data entry.

Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $50,000-$55,000 annually.
