The Bowery Mission in New York seeks a Development Officer, Corporate Partnerships to manage a caseload of corporate relationships and secure gifts-in-kind and pro-bono services to support program operations.   • 2 years of Development experience in Gifts-in-Kind.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate, steward, and grow current corporate partnerships and originate new partnerships.
  • Achieve annual gift-in-kind and financial revenue goals agreed to prior to each fiscal year with the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships.
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships to set annual revenue goals (primarily gift-in-kind but also cash), goals that help reduce programmatic expenses and create a plan to achieve those goals.
  • Review revenue and report progress regularly to the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships, while managing a caseload of clearly defined relationships and engage with them through phone calls, letters, thank you notes, face-to-face meetings/tours, ensuring that all partners on caseload are cultivated on a regular basis and solicited for gifts appropriate to the Mission and partner’s priorities.
  • Take the lead in overseeing inter-Departmental collaboration on all aspects relating to gift-in-kind donations and pro-bono services, by developing effective communication strategies to increase contacts with staff members.
  • Develop a clear understanding of organizational wide needs in relation to gift-in-kind and pro-bono services to maximize opportunities for support.
  • Join events and other activities with corporate partners to raise funds for the Mission and coordinate closely with all appropriate members of the Development Team to accomplish event objectives.

Job description

The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative community with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish.

As a member of the Development Team, The Development Officer, Corporate Partnerships, will manage a caseload of clearly defined corporate relationships with the primary goal of securing gift-in-kind and pro-bono services to support The Bowery Mission’s program operations. These relationships may also lead to financial support and volunteer engagement, and the Development Officer will oversee and ensure the fulfillment of corporate sponsorship obligations relating to their caseload. As a member of the Partnerships team within the larger Development Team, the Development Officer will actively collaborate with team members to ensure each partner is engaged in appropriate and fruitful ways. The Development Officer, Partnerships supports a critical organizational goal to grow collaborative partnerships and ensure the efficient use and good stewardship of resources to support The Bowery Mission’s life transforming programs.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Requirements:
  • Embrace the organization’s Statement of Faith.
  • 2 years of Development experience in Gifts-in-Kind.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and a genuine desire to engage deeply with corporate partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred:
  • Knowledge of nonprofits and philanthropy.

Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $70,000-$80,000 annuallly.
