Job summary

Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington, DC seeks a Development Officer to cultivate and manage donor relationships, secure significant gifts, and partner with leadership to advance lifesaving programs. You’ll engage individuals, corporations, and prospects, guiding moves management and stewardship across a portfolio that fuels our animal welfare mission.

You’ll work in a hands-on, relationship-driven role, meeting donors, organizing tours, and coordinating cultivation events.

Qualifications

Five or more years in fundraising, donor relations, or related revenue role.
Experience managing donor portfolios and securing gifts.
Experience with high-value donors and corporate relationships.
Knowledge of moves management and pipeline development.
Experience with animal welfare or mission-driven nonprofits preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of 120–150 donors, corporate partners, and prospects.
Develop personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
Conduct regular donor meetings, campus tours, and stewardship activities.
Solicit significant gifts and prepare donor materials with internal teams.
Identify opportunities to upgrade donor relationships and fund initiatives.
Build a strong pipeline for transformational gifts in collaboration with leadership.
