Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must be licensed or certified as appropriate.
• Minimum of one year of relevant healthcare experience.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center preferred.
• Ability to perform and interpret physical assessments (heart, lungs, signs of substance use).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff per licensure or certification.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation eligibility.
• Work with the Center Medical Director to address donor questions on suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms.
• Counsel donors of reactive test results and refer to community facilities.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical situations to physicians.
