Donor Health Specialist – RN/Paramedic

Job summary

CSL Vifor seeks a medically qualified professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis, and to provide initial emergency care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, review medical histories, and determine donation eligibility while coordinating with the Center Medical Director on related questions.

The role requires evaluating test results, counseling donors on reactive findings, and referring for follow-up when needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from foreign allopathic/osteopathic medical school, licensure as physician or EMS certification required.
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as RN, MD or DO or in reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to assess physical heart and lung sounds and signs of drug use.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication per licensure.
• Interview donors and review medical history to determine donation suitability.
• Collaborate with Center Medical Director to address donor suitability questions.
• Review test results to determine continued donor suitability and assess symptoms.
• Counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs and escalate critical situations to Center Physician or EMS.
