Job summary

VOA Northern California and Northern Nevada is seeking a full-time Development and Community Engagement Manager in Northern Nevada. The role focuses on donor cultivation, securing support, and expanding community partnerships, largely on-site in Reno with periodic remote work.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in fundraising, strong donor-relationship skills, and experience using donor databases. A passion for VOA’s mission and homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health issues is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is desired; five to seven years of fundraising experience with proven success in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors and corporate partners; including face-to-face relationship building.
• Experience using donor databases to manage donor relationships, records and interests, and identify prospects for increased giving potential.
• Fundraising certification is desired; experience with human services nonprofits is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a donor- and community-centered fundraising strategy to grow and retain the individual donor base and increase annual philanthropic revenue.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, steward, and retain individual donors across all giving levels; use relationship-management strategies and donor communications.
• Manage a portfolio of donors and prospective donors, prioritizing relationship-building, donor retention, increased giving, and meaningful connection to VOA’s mission.
• Collaborate with VP of Development and Marketing to set annual fundraising goals and monitor progress toward giving and in-kind support.
• Cultivate relationships with businesses, community organizations, civic groups, and volunteers to expand community support and strengthen partnerships.
• Develop donor communications, impact stories, campaign materials, and recognition opportunities with Marketing and Communications staff.
• Represent VOA at signature events and community gatherings; engage donors and stakeholders and connect them to VOA programs.
