Job summary

The University of California, Berkeley is seeking an Assistant Director, Donor Engagement - Stewardship to advance donor stewardship and strengthen relationships with alumni and supporters.

You will lead programs, craft donor communications, oversee acknowledgment processes, and coordinate benefit fulfillment, annual reports, and stewardship events, reporting to the Development team. This role emphasizes collaboration, data integrity, and strategic donor engagement across campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience.
• Experience in donor relations or nonprofit fundraising preferred.
• Strong writing and editing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive donor stewardship, recognition, and engagement strategies.
• Oversees stewardship programs, donor recognition and signature engagement events.
• Guides the creation and execution of donor-facing communications across digital and print platforms, maintains a stewardship calendar and ensures consistent branding.
• Supports Cal Athletics Fund benefits, scholarship and capital project recognition.
• Supports all development events in planning and on the day of execution.
• Serves as primary writer for donor features, press releases, proposals, collateral, emails, and reports.
• Maintains data integrity across donor databases (Paciolan, CADS, Salesforce).
• Responds to constituent inquiries and serves as primary contact for donor questions about benefits.
• May mentor less experienced staff members.
