Job summary

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers are seeking a Production Assistant (Truck Driver) to drive routes for donation pickups/drop-offs, maintain truck safety, and assist in thrift-store delivery operations.

You will plan routes, ensure proper loading, and represent the organization with professional conduct while adhering to company policies. A valid license and DC inspection skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must communicate effectively.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable DMV record; driving test required.
• Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
• Must read maps and plan daily routes.
• Must use iPad with GPS and truck inspection report.
• Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
• DOT physical may be required depending on city/state.

Responsibilities

• Ensure security and safe operation of the vehicle; report accidents.
• Conduct daily walk-around vehicle inspection.
• Keep truck cab and box clean; remove personal items daily.
• Plan daily routing and make all scheduled calls and pickups.
• Develop assigned routes; bag or card loads as instructed.
• Represent The Salvation Army; treat customers courteously and follow policies.
• Maintain professional appearance per dress code.
• Keep accurate records: delivery manifests, trip logs, Green Sheet.
• Load/unload truck; secure goods; use blankets and ropes.
• Minimize movement of materials and prevent damage.
• Maximize use of space during transit.
• Assist Thrift Store personnel with item placement on delivery.
• Instruct and supervise Truck Helper in rehab program.
• Support work therapy through professional conduct and work habits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
