Job summary

CommunityAid is seeking a Donations Associate – Level 2 to welcome donors, sort donations, and support warehouse tasks in a fast-paced environment. You will verify item quality, guide others, and assist with basic production activities while learning safety and equipment use.

The role requires strong English communication, reliability, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Evening and weekend hours may be required, with wage starting at $16.75/hr and increasing to $17.25/hr after 90

Responsibilities

  • Greet donors in a friendly, professional manner and ensure a positive donation experience.
  • Sort donations by department and identify acceptable items; escalate or refuse unfit items.
  • Track donation movement using an electronic tablet and maintain donation flow.
  • Assist with production tasks such as disinfection and pricing where needed.
  • Operate manual/electric pallet jacks and other equipment following safety rules.
  • Support safety standards; participate in daily huddles and shift handoffs.

**COMPANY INCENTIVE PROGRAM FOR ALL EMPLOYEES!**STARTING WAGE $16.75/HR WITH INCREASE TO $17.25/HR AT 90 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT!PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:The Donations Associate – Level 2 is responsible for demonstrating great customer service, receiving incoming donations, and sorting donations by identifying quality goods versus trash or unsellable goods while assisting and guiding others around them as a Donation Door subject matter experts. Successful Donations Associates operate quickly and efficiently in demanding and fast-paced environments. Level 2 Donation Associates are champions of maintaining a clean and organized donation area, following and educating others on all safety standards, and properly tracking the movement of donated goods. Level 2 Donations Associates will assist with warehouse tasks when and where needed, as well as learn basic production tasks, pricing, and disinfection processes. Performing all donation tasks consistently helps set up all other aspects of the business for success.Donation Associate – Level 2 are required to learn and use all manual machinery such as manual pallet jacks, dollies, and hand trucks, and be certified in some heavy machinery such as balers and compactors.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Customer Service AmbassadorGreet all donors in a friendly and professional manner.Guarantee a positive donation experience even during busy times.Follow donation guidelines. Review donated goods for poor quality, damage and/or restrictions, and have the ability to turn away and explain why we cannot accept certain items in a way that is consistent with CommunityAid’s core behaviors.Patiently, courteously, and accurately answer donation questions and explain donation impacts while keeping donation flow moving.Championing donor loyalty and perform all partner donation tracking on an electronic tablet.Organizing and Tracking DonationsQuickly and accurately sort incoming donations by department.Identify items for trash or unsellable before they are sent to production or back stock.Prevent any bottlenecks or congestion at the donation door. Keeping incoming donation carts, bins, or large items organized for safety.Accurately track product that is moving from donation door to production, sorting stations, or backstock with an electronic tablet.Keep and maintain a clean environment by managing and clearing all trash from donation doors and organizing or breaking down cardboard.ProductionAssist with production needs such as disinfection and pricing of furnitureAssist with clothing production dumping and balingCross-trained in at least 1 Production area for sorting, cleaning, and pricing.Cross-trained to provide support in other production areas for sorting and trash removal, as neededPartner with Production and Retail to handle any unsellable or Ragout items.SafetyEmphasize safety and organization in high demand environments.Required to learn and use proper safety equipment during everyday tasks (puncture resistance gloves and safety blades)Ability to learn and use manual pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, walking stackers, hand trucks, dollies, compactor, and baler.Understand all safety requirements for heavy machinery machines will require training and certification for use.Learn and understand all safety requirements for disinfection (Sterifab) and PPE requirements.Other TasksParticipate in daily huddles and shift handoffs.Maintain a working knowledge of CommunityAid sales and marketing efforts, including current store needs.Communicate donation volume and issues to the Donations SupervisorPerforms additional responsibilities as needed to support departmental and store goals.CORE COMPETENCIES:Embrace, exemplify, and endorse CommunityAid’s 12 Core BehaviorsEmbrace and support CommunityAid’s MissionGood verbal communication abilities with an emphasis on clarity and listeningCritical thinking and problem solvingAbility to follow standardized work processes and quality guidelinesStrong attention to detail when reviewing, sorting, and pricing productAbility to lift, move, and process merchandise of varying weightsReliability, consistency, and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervisionAbility to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environmentQUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or equivalent preferredMinimum age 18 years of age required for heavy machinery certificationScheduling flexibility and evenings and weekend availabilityProficient in reading, writing, and speaking EnglishAble to adhere to consistent attendance and weekly working hours expectationsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift and carry up to 50 poundsAbility to push and pull up to 75 poundsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to work extended periods of time wearing mask or respirator and other PPE
