Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington in Alexandria, VA seeks a motivated team member to support inventory management: sorting, processing, and preparing donated merchandise for display and sale in our store.

You will maintain accurate logs, classify items, and help shoppers with friendly service while upholding safety standards. Prioritize pace to meet quotas and contribute to a welcoming, clean retail environment.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instructions.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, standing, bending, lifting, and climbing for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor according to guidelines.
• Stays abreast of brand name, designer labels, current and vintage styles.
• Prepare items for the sales floor. Evaluate items for quality, pricing, value and salability.
• Counts items processed and records on official log.
• Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories by quota.
• Places items on hangers and transports them to the sales floor, keeping similar items grouped.
