Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois in DeKalb, IL is seeking a Store Associate to handle donation intake, assist customers, and support daily store operations. You will sort, salvage, and process textiles and other goods, and help prepare items for transit.

This role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 40 pounds, and occasional heavier loads. You will greet donors, provide tax receipts, answer questions, and maintain a safe, clean work environment in a busy retail setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with the public and customers

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently
• Must be able to operate a pricing gun and price merchandise appropriately

Responsibilities

• Assist in receiving donations and providing excellent customer service to donors
• Sort and process textiles, hard goods, and other donated items
• Salvage, trash, and prepare goods for transit according to store standards
• Assist in unloading vehicles and greeting donors promptly
• Maintain inventory and assist in preparing items for sale or transfer
• Adhere to safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work area
