Job summary

Red White and Blue Thrift is seeking a Driver to operate a box truck, pick up donated items from donors, and transport them to the warehouse. You will maintain donor records, ensure safe loading/unloading, and uphold excellent customer service during interactions.

The role requires a valid license, a clean driving record, and the ability to lift up to 70 pounds. A flexible schedule and reliable attendance are essential to meet pickup routes and organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass a motor vehicle records check.
• Proven ability to operate a box truck safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations for large vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and adhere to a set schedule.
• Proficiency in maneuvering the truck in tight spaces.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate changes in pickup routes or schedules.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a box truck following all traffic rules and regulations.
• Follow designated pickup routes efficiently to maximize the number of donations collected and minimize travel time.
• Communicate with donors courteously and professionally while coordinating pickups.
• Load and unload donated items into and out of the pickup vehicle safely.
• Ensure items are handled with care and securely packed to prevent damage during transportation.
• Maintain a clean and organized pickup vehicle, with regular inspections and reporting of safety concerns.
• Accurately record donation details, including item descriptions and donor information.
• Provide exceptional customer service, thanking donors for their contributions and representing the organization positively.
• Report any unique or valuable donations to management.
• Follow health and safety protocols when handling potentially hazardous items.
• Efficiently unload donated items on return, organizing them for sorting and processing.
• Stay informed about the organization’s mission and goals to communicate effectively with donors.
• Attend training sessions and meetings to improve skills and stay current on procedures and policies.
