Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a Donation Attendant for the Rancho Cucamonga Thrift Store. You will help maintain the donation area, assist donors with receipts, and support overall store operations to ensure a positive shopping and donor experience.

Responsibilities include handling donations, keeping records, sorting items, aiding drivers, and notifying supervisors about needed supplies. Prior experience in retail or warehouse is valued.

Qualifications

  • Must pass background check including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
  • Ability to read and write and to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, fellow employees, customers, and donors.

  • Maintain and clean the area around the Donation trailer/pod at start and end of shift.
  • Assist donor in receipt of donated items and provide receipt.
  • Maintain reports and paperwork as instructed by Supervisor.
  • Sort donated material into containers and stack as instructed by Supervisor.
  • Assist TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations onto trucks as necessary.
  • Inform supervisor of needed items before running out (e.g., brooms, receipts, totes).
  • Secure and lock Donation trailer/pod at end of shift.

As our enthusiastic and hardworking DONATION ATTENDANT, you will be responsible for (but not limited to):
  • Maintaining and cleaning up the area in and around the Donation trailer/pod at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Assisting the donor in the receipt of donated items from the donor and provide receipt
  • Maintaining all reports and paperwork as instructed by Supervisor
  • Separating and sorting all donated material into the proper containers, and properly stack material as instructed by the Supervisor
  • Assisting TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations on to trucks as necessary
  • Informing the supervisor of needed items prior to running out (i.e.: brooms, receipts, totes, carts, etc.)
  • Securing and locking Donation trailer/pod at the end of each shift
Qualifications to be considered for this position:
  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent required.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts.
  • Ability to move product up to 75lbs.
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.
  • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation
Schedule

Our stores operate 7 days per week. Work schedules are determined by Management and employee must be flexible to always ensure adequate store coverage. Full-time associates may be scheduled to work any full-time shift including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The Salvation Army will comply with all governmental orders and any contractual obligations relative to COVID-19 safety measures, including mandatory vaccination of staff, if required.
