Job summary

Hope Services in Silicon Valley is seeking a motivated team member to receive and secure donated items at assigned community drop locations. The role emphasizes on-the-job training for HOPE Trainees and delivering friendly customer service to visitors.

Pay is $18.45 per hour with a Sunday–Tuesday 9:00am–5:00pm schedule. You will handle donations, issue receipts, prep materials for pickup, and help maintain a tidy, secure storage area while following safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• No formal education required; at least 1 year of on-the-job training or customer service experience.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Basic knowledge of proper lifting procedures and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Provide good customer service to visitors and represent HOPE in the community.
• Accept donated materials and provide receipts.
• Prepare material for pickup by HOPE trucks.
• Maintain a neat storage unit and assure security of all materials.
• Load and unload donated materials; lock/unlock station and report issues promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation.

Schedule: Sunday - Tuesday 9:00am - 5:00pm

Purpose

Receiving and securing donated items at the assigned community drop locations. Priority for this position is to provide on the job training for HOPE Trainees.

Principal Responsibilities

• Provides good customer service to all visitors at the assigned location. Represents HOPE in the community.
• Accepts donated materials and provides the customer with a receipt.
• Prepares material for pick by HOPE trucks. Separates clothing from miscellaneous materials, stores appropriately.
• Maintains a neat storage unit and assures security of all materials.
• Loads and unloads donated materials as needed.
• Locks and unlocks station at the start and finish of each shift.
• Calls in all concerns and issues to home base. Reports all losses and customer complaints in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned to assure efficiency of operation.

Minimum Qualifications

No formal education required, 1 year related OTJ training/experience working in a position providing customer service.

Environmental Conditions

Constant exposure to outdoor conditions, weather, dust and pollens. Frequent lifting and moving of donated materials, storage of supplies. Frequent communications with visitors.
