Job summary

The Salvation Army in San Jose, CA is seeking a Donation Attendant to assist donors, maintain the donation trailer area, and manage light paperwork. You will work with the team to ensure equipment and space are kept clean and organized.

Responsibilities include greeting donors, issuing receipts, loading donations on trucks, and reporting supply needs to supervisors. Flexibility for various shifts is required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and donors.
• Ability to read and write and to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean up the area in and around the Donation trailer/pod at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Appear neatly and cleanly dressed in suitable clothing as per The Salvation Army dress code policy.
• Courteously assist the donor in the receipt of donated items from the donor and provide receipt.
• Maintain all reports and paperwork as instructed by Supervisor.
• Separate and sort all donated material into the proper containers, and properly stack material as instructed by the Supervisor.
• Assist TSA PA/Drivers with loading donations on to trucks as necessary.
• Inform the supervisor of needed items prior to running out (i.e.: brooms, receipts, totes, carts, etc.).
• Must secure and lock Donation trailer/pod at the end of each shift.
• Must be have flexible availability for scheduling purposes.
• Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
