Description
Overall management of the entire nursing department and staffing levels. Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Ensure resident safety and that all residents are treated with respect. Develop and conduct in-services for clinical staff. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training nursing staff. Coordinate pharmacy services and the destruction of expired/discontinued medication. Serve as a liaison between the facility, physicians, and family members. Act as a witness at trials in case of litigation. Collaborate with all departments to ensure excellent resident care. Oversee department budgeting and reporting. Stay current on regulatory changes and disseminate information accordingly. Participate in QA, Utilization Review, and Patient Care conferences. Assist with state surveys and follow-up activities. Coordinate MDS and care planning. Conduct employee appraisals and resolve issues including disciplinary actions and terminations. Maintain confidentiality for employees and residents. Provide direct resident care as needed.
Supervisory Requirements
The Director of Nursing supervises and manages the ADON and entire nursing staff, directly or indirectly.
