Job summary

Petco Certified Dog Trainer role focuses on one-on-one sessions, group classes, and holistic pet care guidance within the Pet Care Center. You will apply modern dog training techniques and positive reinforcement to help pet parents raise well-behaved, happy, healthy dogs.

This position requires completing Petco’s Dog Trainer Instructor Program, ongoing training, and collaboration with grooming and veterinary teams.

Qualifications

• Passion for animal care and welfare; improving pets' lives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with pet parents.
• Demonstrated ability to handle dogs of all sizes safely and humanely.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and store operations.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Familiarity with computer systems to manage training records and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one dog training sessions and group classes.

• Advise guests on healthy nutrition, services and supplies for pets.
