Job summary

Agile Defense in Huntsville, AL seeks a Technical Writer II to create, edit, and maintain mission-critical IT documentation supporting DoD/DoW systems. You translate complex specs into clear, compliant docs for engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and manage recurring reporting requirements.

Qualifications include 3–5 years in technical writing for DoD contracts, with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and experience delivering CDRLs, MSRs, white papers, and dashboards.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of professional technical writing experience, with at least 1 year supporting a DoD or federal IT contract.
• Bachelor’s Degree in English, Technical Communications, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience creating Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables, including Monthly Status Reports, White Papers, and dashboards, is strictly required.
• Familiarity with DoD RMF documentation standards and DoD Records Management tenets.

Responsibilities

• Author, revise, and maintain comprehensive IT system documentation, including SOPs, user manuals, API documentation, and system architecture guides.
• Develop, format, and manage recurring contract deliverables such as MSRs, technical White Papers, and performance dashboards in alignment with contract schedules.
• Interface directly with Systems Engineers, Software Developers, and Cybersecurity teams to extract and synthesize technical details into standardized documentation.
• Ensure all technical documentation adheres to DoD guidelines, RMF standards, and contract-specific style guides.
• Conduct rigorous peer reviews, copyediting, and formatting checks on documents to ensure clarity and professional presentation.
