Job summary

Odyssey Systems is seeking a Technical Writer to support AFLCMC/HBS/WIW at Tinker AFB, OK, in a full-time hybrid role. You will prepare and edit manuals, guides, and technical documents, translating complex concepts for diverse audiences, and ensuring compliance with standards.

You will collaborate with engineers, PMs, vendors, and customers, manage document versions, and maintain an organized document library using MS Office and desktop publishing tools. Active Secret clearance required.

Qualifications

• Clearance: Active Secret clearance.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
• Experience: 3+ years in DoD documentation or related field.
• Option for 7 years of related experience, with 5+ years in the DoD.

Responsibilities

• Prepare original technical papers, manuals, policies, specifications, and reports.
• Write and edit user documentation, how-to guides, instruction manuals, procedures, and training materials.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation.
• Ensure documents meet agency style, formatting, tone, and accuracy standards.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, test results, mock-ups, and other inputs to develop or update content.
• Collaborate with engineers, program managers, vendors, and customer representatives to define technical specifications.
• Maintain and organize an electronic library of signed documents and final presentations.
• Ensure consistency and clarity across related documents, including citation of sources and generation of tables of contents.
• Conduct final reviews for layout, grammar, and editorial quality before release.
• Support document revisions, version control, and coordination of different editions as needed.
• Use Microsoft Office and desktop publishing software for content creation, layout, and formatting.
