The DoD SkillBridge program develops civilian-recognized technical skills while exposing you to Kirby-Smith shop operations, safety standards, and customer service practices, with potential for full-time employment after separation.

Qualifications

• Active-duty service member approved for SkillBridge participation.
• Military mechanical/technical experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read manuals and follow repair procedures.
• Willingness to learn diagnostic software and tools.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; perform physical shop tasks.
• Strong work ethic, safety commitment, and professional communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel engines and hydraulic systems under supervision.
• Complete preventive maintenance and scheduled service work on heavy equipment.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins.
• Use diagnostic software and specialized tools to identify issues.
• Document work done, parts used, and hours in the shop system.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with safety standards.
• Communicate professionally with technicians, managers, and customers.
