Job summary

SAIC in Huntsville, AL seeks an experienced safety professional to support a Government customer on Redstone Arsenal. You will manage safety program compliance across transportation, environmental, fire, radiation safety and emergency management programs.

Responsibilities include inspections, training, incident reporting, job hazard analysis, PPE recommendations, and coordination with DoD safety regulations. TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain a polygraph are required.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Willing and able to obtain a polygraph.
• Undergraduate and graduate study in safety or occupational health fields; or related degrees with 24 credit hours in safety disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and follow up workplace safety inspections and audits.
• Provide safety training and environmental/radiation safety inspections of equipment.
• Serve as safety representative at agency meetings on Redstone Arsenal.
• Ensure equipment surveys/inspections are completed and documented.
• Report and investigate accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
• Perform Job Hazard Analysis in DoD-regulated operations.
• Recommend and approve PPE for hazardous operations.
• Complete career field training with OSHA/NSC or equivalent.
• Coordinate environmental safety inspections with Redstone Arsenal.
• Develop/update transportation safety procedures per applicable regulations.
• Coordinate with EOE team and Redstone Arsenal for explosive safety.
• Serve on Radiation Safety Committee as alternate Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
• Support Fire Safety program with inspections; assist Fire Inspector's office.
• Support Emergency Management program with policy updates and exercises.
