Job summary

Tyto Athene is seeking a Network Specialist to support the DoD DHA LAN/WAN in Jacksonville, FL. The role provides on-site troubleshooting and ensures dependable network services for the medical campus, including core and edge switch operations.

The ideal candidate understands OSI layers 1-3, TCP/IP, firewall and VPN technologies, and has hands-on experience with switches/routers. Active Secret clearance and Security+ CE are required; CCNA or Juniper/Brocade certification is preferred.

Qualifications

OSI Model Layers 1-3 with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
Firewall and VPN technologies familiarity.
Strong experience with switches/routers and LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
Knowledge of security methodologies and DoD network principles.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s or equivalent certifications with DoD experience or 8+ years in lieu of a degree.
DoD 8570.01 Information Assurance training and Security+ CE certification are required.
CCNA or equivalent network certification desired.

Responsibilities

Provides daily operational support for LAN core and edge switches across the medical network campus.
Resolves network issues and routing protocol problems using diagnostic tools.
Supports routing, switching, firewalls, and cabling for network infrastructure.
Plans, installs, and supports hardware/software upgrades.
