Job summary

GDIT is seeking an Automation Developer to support automation, event management, systems integration, and modernization within a mission-critical DoD infrastructure environment in Arlington, VA.

This role suits a systems/infrastructure developer with Linux, scripting, automation, or integration experience, expanding expertise across enterprise monitoring and automation technologies, including NetCool, Ansible, and GitLab.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional IT/infrastructure or DevOps experience.
• Strong Linux, scripting, automation, and systems integration skills.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring and event management.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python, Bash, or other scripts to automate recurring infra/app activities.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks for infra/app administration.
• Use GitLab or approved tools to maintain automation code and docs.
• Identify manual processes to standardize or automate.
• Develop automated system and app health checks and validation.
• Learn administration of the IBM NetCool event management environment.
• Support event ingestion, filtering, enrichment, correlation, prioritization, escalation.
• Assist NetCool configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and improvements.
• Support integration among platforms using APIs, scripts, SNMP, syslog, and structured data.
• Troubleshoot data flows between monitoring, event management, infra management, and ITSM.
• Collaborate with network and Linux teams to automate ops.
• Assist in upgrades, changes, vulnerability fixes, and troubleshooting.
• Participate in root cause analysis across systems.
• Maintain architecture/docs, automation repos, SOPs, and guides.
• Participate in cross-training and on-call support.
