Job summary

SMX is seeking an AI Engineer to support a government client at Camp Smith. The role designs, develops, tests, and improves AI-enabled systems that support client operations, workflows, and organizational Knowledge Management.

You will transform business processes into AI tools integrated into workflows and AI harnesses, with a focus on practical AI solutions. Onsite in Aiea, Hawaii, the position requires TS/SCI clearance and contributes to complex, security-conscious projects leveraging Maven

Qualifications

• Security clearance TS/SCI is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (CS/AI/DS/SE/IS).
• 5–8 years of relevant technical experience; additional experience may substitute for degree.
• Military operational experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience building AI-enabled systems, tools, workflows, or data integrations.
• Experience with Maven Smart System as the primary platform.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-enabled capabilities transforming client processes into tools, workflows, and AI systems.
• Design, build, and support AI-integrated systems to improve workflows and decision-making.
• Transform operational processes into AI-enabled tools and environments.
• Support Maven Smart System as the primary AI/operational platform.
• Develop AI-enabled workflows connecting knowledge, data, tools, and decision processes.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation workflows using trusted data sources.
• Support AI agent workflows for information retrieval, summarization, and draft generation.
• Create prompts, templates, and structured outputs for AI systems.
• Integrate AI with cloud environments, APIs, databases, dashboards, and tools.
• Test and evaluate AI performance, accuracy, and usefulness.
• Collaborate to ensure AI tools are useful and tied to real workflows.
• Support governance, human-in-the-loop review, data protection, and auditability.
